Experiments with the XSI - Balboa Park

I have been IN LOVE with my Canon Rebel XSI since I got it last week. Today I had the time to take it out and start shooting just for fun (and for practice). I went to Balboa Park, which is a great place next to downtown San Diego (and adjacent to the San Diego Zoo). It is a HUGE park which is home to museums, art galleries, historic buildings, botanical gardens and a large craft center. Basically it's a mecca center for the local San Diego art scene (so an obvious choice to go and shoot).

Unfortunately I was only able to stay for a half hour because I had to leave a meet a friend for lunch (never ending pasta bowls at Olive Garden YES) but I still got some pretty good pictures.

I am only using the creative modes on my camera (the modes which you control the aperture and the shutter speed) so I can learn how to take the picture (vs. the camera taking the picture). I am planing on taking an online photography class over the next month (once I get some money haha)

I have only posted a few of my favorite photos, if you want to see all of them, please visit my Balboa Park Flickr Page.

Ceremony.....Readings & Declaration of intent

Friends, Sara and Kyle who stand here today about to be married have been created by many things. These things are gifts: The gift of their genetic makeup, the gifts of advice from dear friends, the gift of knowledge from teachers of all sorts, the gift of being shown by example how to be a good human being. And, perhaps the most important gift, although mostly unrecognized, is the gift of time. Spending precious time with someone is the most generous gift of all. Sara and Kyle have been blessed with many people in their lives willing to give the gift of time.

Who are these gift givers? Look around. They are all of you....

The First Reading was from my Uncle Mark, 1 John 4: 7-19

Second was Psalm 145 from our mutual friend and

Kyle's good friend from college, Lauren

Last Reading was from Kyle's family church minister The Rev. McCracken, she read 1 Corinthians 13

I look happy don't I?

Better letters

This picture is from the National Stationary Show, but I thought it served as good inspiration for decor. Letters are abundant right now; you can buy them in wood, metal, cardboard, etc. at Urban Outfitters and Michaels. But a row of them, hung with ribbons, seems a little more creative, if maybe a little girly. I'd love to try this with our initials somewhere at the wedding, too.

A Winter Wedding: Jen + Michael

And we're off... to a winter wedding in Philadelphia for friends Jen & Michael. Jen & Michael may just be one of the cutest couples I've ever seen, and I can't wait for the wedding. I was so excited that Jen wanted a custom aisle runner for the ceremony. A while back I wrote all about Jen's fun bridal shower and the items I.D.O. created for it (the parasol and banner) but I also mentioned the aisle runner that we'd be creating... well here it is! Jen was drawn to monogram 13D (which many of our brides are... it's definitely a popular choice) and wanted it in her colors, classy gold and black. We added a little sparkle to it just for that added special touch and love the way it turned out... we can't wait to see it in action at the wedding. We'll be back on Monday (hopefully with lots of great pictures from the wedding!) Have a great weekend!

Title: Take a Break (Original Song)- Joseph Vincent

http://www.myspace.com/josephvincentmusic
so this is an original song i wrote around last summer:)

LYRICS

Verse 1:
You wake up in the moring and you see the sun shining bright
You're hoping that the day goes well and everything is starting off right
And you try to be strong, no nothing can bring you down
You're hiding from the world but sooner or later you'll be found

Chorus:
Cause everything might seem so bad
to loose the things that you once had
Loose the frown let's see a smile
and just relax a little while
Don't be down girl raise your head instead

Verse"
You're driving 'round for hours and you almost can't handle the stress
You always keep on going cause you're never going to settle for less
And you try to be strong you do it for your sake
So stop all the work and stop all the pressure, and take a break

Chorus (2x)
