Wedding Picture Location Booked!.....18 Days!!!

por | | 0 comments

Wedding Picture Location Booked!.....18 Days!!!I Booked my Location for my Wedding Portraits after the ceremony. Ochre Court is an old mansion located at Salve Regina University in Newport Rhode Island. This is a blub about it from their website

"For this limestone palace overlooking the reddish seacliffs that give the estate its name, Hunt drew his inspiration from the late medieval period in French architecture. With its high roofs, turrets, whimsical gargoyles, and tall chimneys, Ochre Court recalls the style of Francois I, a transitional era when established medieval elements like the pointed Gothic arch and heavy stained glass were lightened by newly-emerging Renaissance details including rounded arches and delicate lacy ornamentation. Inside the mansion, Hunt used details from French Gothic chateaux and churches to create a Great Hall, which soars upward for three stories and dramatically frames a seaward vista. Radiating off the Great Hall, both the impressive ground floor reception rooms and the private upstairs family rooms, which are now University offices, were richly designed with imported antique fireplaces and lavish wallcoverings."

This is a group of monograms I am currently working on for a couple who is getting married next March. They're colors are eggplant purple and sage and they aren't quite sure of their theme yet. They are both irish and wanted to possibly reflect on that, they also wanted to keep the monograms elegant and formal using the font you see.

Ceremony.....Readings & Declaration of intent

por | | 0 comments

Friends, Sara and Kyle who stand here today about to be married have been created by many things. These things are gifts: The gift of their genetic makeup, the gifts of advice from dear friends, the gift of knowledge from teachers of all sorts, the gift of being shown by example how to be a good human being. And, perhaps the most important gift, although mostly unrecognized, is the gift of time. Spending precious time with someone is the most generous gift of all. Sara and Kyle have been blessed with many people in their lives willing to give the gift of time.

Who are these gift givers? Look around. They are all of you....

Ceremony.....Readings & Declaration of intent
The First Reading was from my Uncle Mark, 1 John 4: 7-19

Ceremony.....Readings & Declaration of intent
Second was Psalm 145 from our mutual friend and
Kyle's good friend from college, Lauren
Ceremony.....Readings & Declaration of intent Last Reading was from Kyle's family church minister The Rev. McCracken, she read 1 Corinthians 13

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

por | | 0 comments
One of my Husband's groomsman (and also a dear friend of mine) Julien, is deployed with a naval ship out of Everett, Washington. He has been gone for awhile and I decided to send him a care package. In it I have put letters, some dried fruit and some of his favorite cookies!

Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
source:The New Best Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 16 tablespoons (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened but cool
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  1. Adjust the oven racks to the low and middle positions and heat the oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper or spray them with nonstick cooking spray
  2. Whisk the flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt together in a medium bowl
  3. Either by hand or using an electric mixer, beat the butter on medium speed until creamy. Add the sugars; beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in the eggs, one at a time
  4. Stir the dry ingredients unto the butter-sugar mixture with a wooden spoon or large rubber spatula. Stir in the oats and raisins.
  5. Working with a generous tablespoon of dough each time, roll the dough into 2-inch balls and place on baking sheets, spacing them at least 2 inches apart
  6. Bake until cookie edges turn golden brown, 22 to 25 minutes, rotating the baking sheets from front to back and top to bottom halfway through the cooking time. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. Transfer the cookies with a wide metal spatula to a wire rack. Let cool at least 30 minutes.

Title: Cinnamon Oatmeal Raisin Pancakes Recipe

http://www.rouxbe.com/recipes/19/text
Cinnamon Oatmeal Raisin Pancakes

Pancakes with a twist of oatmeal, cinnamon and raisins. These are fantastic!

Active Time: 10 min
Total Time: 30 min
Serves: 4

Step 1: Making the Batter

* 2 whole eggs
* 2 tbsp. brown sugar (or maple syrup)
* 2 tsp. vanilla
* 3 tbsp. canola oil
* 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
* 1/3 cup raisins
* 2 cups low fat buttermilk (or plain yogurt)
* 3/4 cup flour
* 1/2 tsp. baking soda
* 2 pinches nutmeg
* 1/2 tsp. baking powder
* 2 pinches cinnamon
* 1/2 tsp. salt

Whisk together eggs, brown sugar, vanilla and oil. Add the oatmeal, raisins, and milk. Mix and set aside. In a separate bowl mix together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Mix wet ingredients into the dry. Stir until the dry ingredients are just incorporated, do not over mix.

Step 2: Cooking the Pancakes

* 1 tbsp. oil or butter

Turn heat to medium-high and lightly oil your griddle or frying pan. Ladle batter onto griddle keeping in mind that this batter is thicker than regular pancakes and will need to cook longer before flipping. The pancakes are ready to flip when the tops look less wet and shiny. Cook a couple minutes on the other side. Serve immediately with warm maple syrup.

To complete this How-To you will need:

Nonstick cooking spray
One and one half sticks unsalted butter at room temperature
One and one half c. light brown sugar
Two eggs at room temperature
Two tsp. vanilla extract
One and one half c. flour
One half tsp. baking soda
One half tsp. salt
One tsp. ground cinnamon
Two and one half c. rolled oats (not quick-cooking)
Three-quarters c. raisins
Two cookie sheets
Two bowls
A whisk
An electric mixer (optional)
Three-quarters c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Step 1: Preheat oven

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, spray the cookie sheets with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 2: Mix butter and sugar

In a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar together with a fork or an electric mixer until it's well mixed and fluffy.

Step 3: Add the egg and vanilla

Add the egg and vanilla and mix well with a whisk or electric mixer to combine.

Step 4: Whisk dry ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

Step 5: Finish the batter

Step 6: Drop onto cookie sheet

Drop spoonfuls of the batter 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets, and press them down slightly with the back of the spoon. Bake them until they're golden, about 10 to 12 minutes, and let them cool on the cookie sheets before eating.

A Winter Wedding: Jen + Michael

por | | 0 comments

A Winter Wedding: Jen + MichaelAnd we're off... to a winter wedding in Philadelphia for friends Jen & Michael. Jen & Michael may just be one of the cutest couples I've ever seen, and I can't wait for the wedding. I was so excited that Jen wanted a custom aisle runner for the ceremony. A while back I wrote all about Jen's fun bridal shower and the items I.D.O. created for it (the parasol and banner) but I also mentioned the aisle runner that we'd be creating... well here it is! Jen was drawn to monogram 13D (which many of our brides are... it's definitely a popular choice) and wanted it in her colors, classy gold and black. We added a little sparkle to it just for that added special touch and love the way it turned out... we can't wait to see it in action at the wedding. We'll be back on Monday (hopefully with lots of great pictures from the wedding!) Have a great weekend!

Lemon Chicken Scalloppini

por | | 0 comments

Lemon Chicken Scalloppini I've had the last remnants of a box of white wine in my fridge for...too long. I knew the wine wouldn't be good enough to drink, but I thought I could try my hand at cooking with wine.

I found this recipe for Lemon Chicken Scalloppini through Foodgawker (an excellent way to sort through the cooking blogosphere!). I had lemon, I had chicken, I had wine. Sounded like I was in business.

I did not, however, have capers, so I can't accurately attest to the deliciousness of this dish. But my version, sans capers, was moist and wonderfully flavored, both subtle and zesty.

Lemon Chicken ScalloppiniI sliced a chicken breast in half to get thinner slices, then pounded it with a mallet and flour'd it up, seasoned with salt and pepper.

Lemon Chicken Scalloppini Then I fried the chicken in butter and olive oil (seriously my butter consumption is through the roof!) until both sides were browned.

Lemon Chicken Scalloppini Then I added 1/4 cup of white wine and a cup of chicken broth and let that simmer until the sauce reduce by half. Finally, I added lemon pieces and let those simmer, as well.

Lemon Chicken Scalloppini Garnished with parsley and then sat down to eat.

Cooking with alcohol, I've found, is very fun from a chemistry perspective. It's like all the best experiments you ever did, where you would add one ingredient to another and suddenly there was hissing and crackling and steam and a surge of bubbles and an incredibly satisfying hiss. I love that!

P.S. This was great weeknight cooking; fast and easy and delicious.
