To my sweet readers...

I was so (pleasantly) surprised by all of your wonderful comments on my earlier post. Just to be clear, at no point have I considered ending Snippet & Ink, although after re-reading my post, I understand why you might have thought that - I'm actually totally mortified that my post made it sound that way, when what I really have been thinking is about how to make Snippet & Ink work for me in a way where I won't burn out, and in a way that continues to be inspiring for you.

No matter what I meant, and how you read it, I LOVED hearing from all of you. It means so much to me, and you are all the reason that I keep blogging. Please don't feel pressured to leave comments, but know that they are always welcome and add some sparkle to my day. I will be sure to take into account your thoughts and input as I move forward with Snippet & Ink.

Thank you a million!

Lauren Conrad returns with another round of dish.  Her new book details, up next.

Hello and welcome back to Clevver TV, Im Dana Ward.

So we can all remember the hyped-up bestseller, LA Candy, from Lauren Conrad aka a ghostwriter reportedly.  Now the celeb is talking about her follow-up book called Sweet Little Lies.  The fictional sequel still follows Jane, another reality star, but Conrad says that the new story gets a bit deeper into Hollywood and behind-the-scenes of a show.  Even though the author says she made the character Jane more naïve than she was before going on The Hills, throughout the ups and downs, theyve both understood to live and learn.  Lauren hopes that readers take away from Sweet Little Lies that theres always another side to the story, and to not always believe the tabloids and rumors.

Did any of you read the original LC book, LA Candy?  And does that make you want to also read Sweet Little Lies?  Let us know and remember to check out our fan page at Facebook.com/ClevverTV and become fans of Joslyn and me too!  Im Dana Ward thanks for watching!

Real Wedding Saturday: Brittany & Michael

This week's real wedding was sent to me by the talented Cooper Carras, and not only was I excited because it's beautiful and looks like a ton of fun, but I was also flattered because the bride, Brittany, is a daily reader of Snippet & Ink and she specifically asked Cooper to share these with us! How fun is that! And as if the venue wasn't special enough, the weather could not possibly have provided a more beautiful day.

Title: Molly Picon in The Wedding Scene from Yidl Mitn Fidl 1936 Yiddish film

from the 1936 Yiddish film YIDL MITN FIDL.
This was filmed once again in Kazimierz, Poland, using local inhabitants as extras. It took over thirty consecutive hours to film, and the food had to be kosher of course as the locals used were all Orthodox Jews. As the filming went on, they ate, and for the successive shots of the table the food had to be replenished. The poverty stricken guests just couldn't understand what was happening, as they thought they had been invited to a real wedding. When one woman asked why so much food they explained that it wasn't a real wedding - only a film. It is possible she had never seen a film, for she said: "Why didn't you tell me that before? With so much food, I could have brought my daughter to get married for real. She has a chassen (bridegroom) but we have no money for a dowry to make a proper wedding." Molly suspected her husband (Jacob Kalich) may have given the woman the money, as later she smiled at Picon and said "Are you lucky to have such a rich husband."
It's a sobering thought to think what would have happened to these people only a few short years later.

This is a group of monograms I am currently working on for a couple who is getting married next March. They're colors are eggplant purple and sage and they aren't quite sure of their theme yet. They are both irish and wanted to possibly reflect on that, they also wanted to keep the monograms elegant and formal using the font you see.

Title: Alex Jones Tv {Sunday Edition} 4/5: Chinese-Style Censorship of Infowars.com by Asia Netcom!

Internet Censorship: Major Truth-Providing Websites Blocked By Asia Netcom To New Zealand Users

Clare Swinney
http://www.infonews.co.nz/default.cfm
Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Has Chinese-style internet censorship arrived in New Zealand this year? The question is posed because two major news websites, Infowars.com and Prisonplanet.com, both of which are run by documentary maker and radio show host Alex Jones, who is renowned for exposing the truths the mainstream media attempts to conceal, were found to be have been selectively blocked on Friday evening and were still unavailable at the time of writing.

Thankfully, this draconian measure does not effect all internet users in New Zealand however. It appears to be confined to those whose internet server providers, (ISPs), use Asia Netcom for their international internet traffic. Telstraclear, Vodafone and Worldxchange Communications users are not effected, while Woosh, Orcon, Slingshot, Telecom and Ihug users are.

An avid fan of Infowars.com and a 9/11 truth activist, Jeff Mitchell, reported on Saturday that he contacted his ISP, Orcon, to establish what was causing the block, and was advised by a computer technician who did a traceroute, that the break in traffic to the two websites was found to be occurring at Asia Netcoms router in Sydney. This technician also advised that as Telstraclear used a different route, their customers were still able to access the two sites.

There have been calls for the Internet to be censored and controlled and for an Internet 2 by proponents of a one world government, or New World Order. This is because the internet as it is, is impeding the global elites ability to push their tyrannical, self-serving agendas through.

A clear indicator that the internet is regarded as a serious threat to global elite was evident when on March the 18th, 2009 Senator Jay Rockefeller of the Rockefeller dynasty, a family pivotal in the push for a one world government, [1,2] went so far as to suggest that it might have been better if the internet had never been invented and we went back to using pencils and paper, [3]. While it may have seemed like a ridiculous statement to make at the time, it was an indicator of what the global elite are aiming for and a warning. They want to make it increasingly difficult to get to the truth and they want to regain control of all media.

Consequently, it is of no surprise that Infowars.com and Prisonplanet.com appear to have been selectively targeted, as these two sites present a huge threat to the global elites operation. They provide access to credible information, from a wide range of contributors, which has been crippling the elites agendas. They have been providing updates on what has been happening around the world, including access to the Alex Jones radio show, which is now the most popular radio show on the internet worldwide. They expose that 9/11, the bombings of 7/7 and Oklahoma City, and the underwear bomber, were inside jobs and that, in fact, many terror-related events are government-sponsored. Plus, they have been pivotal in exposing that man-made global warming and the H1N1 pandemic were hoaxes, and that the Federal Reserve bank is taking money from the taxpayers and putting it in the pockets of bankers, and that it should be shut down.

Hopefully, this block is merely a temporary problem. If not, action may be necessary. In the meantime, you can still pick the radio show up at GCNLive.com by proxy, and read some of the Infowars.com/Prisonplanet.com articles on Alex Jones other sites which are still available, including Infowars.net, Propaganda Matrix and JonesReport.com. Also, you can use www.ninjaproxy.com to read Infowars and Prisonplanet.com articles. Plus, Prisonplanet.tv is still accessible and you can still access the shop which sells his documentaries via the link here: http://infowars-shop.stores.yahoo.net/faofreprofba.html.

Embroidery Feature: Ring Pouches

por | | 0 comments

Embroidery Feature: Ring PouchesFor our final installment of embroidery week we wanted to share these adorably practical ring pouches! Let's face it, no one wants to trust their precious wedding bands to the little ring bearer (that's way too much responsibility for a little one!) so most couples entrust the best man to carry the rings. Now you don't want him to just toss the rings into his pocket do you?Heaven forbid he has a hole in his pocket! And you definitely don't want him to be walking around with the big bulky ring box... so these personalized ring pouches are the perfect solution. They can be embroidered with the couples new married monogram and date or you can put the bride's first initial on one with the date underneath and the groom's first initial on the other with the date (as shown above). Either way they're cute, personal, and a great way to keep your precious wedding bands safe. These are definitely one of our favorite picks!

We hope you've enjoyed all our embroidery week features and don't forget you have until 9/30 to get 10% off all the items in the new embroidery line- just use coupon code NEW10 at checkout!

Title: Adele. Tired. TRADUCIDA

lyric:

Hold my hand
While you cut me down
It had only just begun
But now it's over now
And your
In the heat of moments
With your heart
Playing up cold
I'm between the middle
Watching hastiness unfold
In my eyes
Your were smiling
In the spotlight dancing
With the night
The night fell
Off your mind

I'm tired of trying
Your teasing ain't enough
Fed up of biding your time
When i dont get nothing back
And for and for and for
When i don't get nothing back
Boy, i'm tired

Where'd you go
When you stay behind
I looked up and inside down
And outside only to find
A double taking punching hard
And laughing at my smile
I get closer you
Obviously prefer her

Chorus:
I'm tired of trying
Your teasing ain't enough
Fed up of biding your time
When i don't get nothing back
And for and for and for
When i dont get nothing back
Boy, i'm tired of trying
Your teasing aint enough
Fed up of biding your time
When i don't get nothing back
And for and for and for
When i don't get nothing back
Boy, i'm tired

(I should have known)

Never mind said
Your open arms
I couldn't help
Belive the trick me
Back into them

LETRA:

Sujetas mi mano mientras me humillas
no recibo nada a cambio, chico, estoy cansada.
Donde habrás ido cuando te has quedado atrás
He mirado arriba y abajo y a fuera sólo para descubrir
un fuerte doble golpe y te mofas de mi sonrisa
Me acerco pero tú la prefieres a ella.
Estoy cansada de notar que me tomas el pelo y ya tengo bastante
Harta de esperar a que llegue el momento adecuado
no recibo nada a cambio, chico, estoy cansada.
(Lo debería haber sabido)
Tus brazos abiertos me dijeron no pasa nada
No podía creer otra vez tu engaño
Estoy cansada de notar que me tomas el pelo y ya tengo bastante
Harta de esperar que llegue el momento adecuado
no recibo nada a cambio, chico, estoy cansada.

Interview: Amanda of Is This Thing On? v.1

Interview: Amanda of Is This Thing On? v.1

As some or most of you know, I am by trade a journalist and so my curiosity never dies. That said, I wanted to introduce my interview series with other people about their experiences in that most noble endeavor: cooking.

Today's interview is with Amanda of Is This Thing On?. I met Amanda in college; she has now just completed her master's degree in English from the University of Maine and moved back to the Bad News, so hopefully she'll be coming to teach me how to bake. She specializes in cupcakes and I would like to announce that she has graciously agreed to make my wedding cupcakes! Anyway, the interview is pretty long, so I am splitting it into two parts.

Interview: Amanda of Is This Thing On? v.1

Amanda's Hokie Hi-Hat cupcakes: meringue dipped in candy melts to create "the DQ effect."

Newly Domesticated: Why does baking appeal to you?

Amanda: I love baking because it allows me to check out of my busy, complicated grad school life and focus on manageable steps that I know (or hope) I can handle. Baking and blogging about it makes me feel good at something. Cupcakes are the perfect baked good because I can be creative with flavors and decorations without a huge amount of risk; since I’m still following basic recipes, I’m not as on-my-own as I am when cooking.

ND: What are your earliest memories of cooking?

A: Cooking was always my sister’s thing. She had the Easy Bake Oven and the dreams of culinary school, and I didn’t really want to be involved in the kitchen. I remember one particular time in middle school when my aunt was trying to teach me how to make a pie. I was adamant about not being a pie making person, and I think — again — I just shoved my sister in the direction of the kitchen and got away with it. I used to think I just wasn’t a good cook, but I realized that wasn’t really true in college when I started cooking for myself.

ND: Are you self-taught or were you educated?

A: I was all ready to say self-taught, but I think it’s more accurate to say that I’m blog-educated. My mom taught me some of the basics about cake and icing, but since I didn’t really start baking until I lived alone, I’ve learned the most from food bloggers. I have a tab on my iGoogle homepage for cupcakes and one for cooking, and I check them about half a dozen times a day. It’s a little bit out of control, but I just can’t get enough! Some of my favorites are How to Eat a Cupcake, Pioneer Woman and Cupcake Project

Outside of my foodie blogs, I have quite a growing collection of cookbooks. Over the past year, I’ve started reading them like novels. Old cookbooks are the best. Even if I don’t make any of the recipes, I really enjoy reading the ingredients and instructions. I laughed at myself the other night when I realized I was reading a cookbook in bed before going to sleep. So, even though I’ve not taken a course on baking or cooking, I guess I’ve been getting an education from a number of sources.

Interview: Amanda of Is This Thing On? v.1
Amanda's Maple Bacon, Fauxtress and Blueberry Ricotta cupcakes. Amazing, no?

ND: What do you like best about cupcakes?

A: I love the size and portability of cupcakes. Since I take most of my baking projects to other people, they have to be easily moved, stored, and eaten. I used to just drop them off in the English Dept. with a post-it note advertising their flavor(s), and that would be impossible with a messy cake that had to be cut and plated and blah, blah, blah.

Cupcakes are also really forgiving. In each batch, I have between 12 and 30-some chances to make a really cute cupcake. I can make 15 really awkwardly decorated cupcakes, photograph the 3 successful cupcakes and no one has to know that I practiced on most of them.

And let’s be honest, things are just cuter when they’re small.

And people are less likely to refuse a cupcake because they are “being good.” It still happens, but not nearly as often as when I bring other sweets. Okay… I’ll stop listing the cupcake pros now.

Wall-to-wall artI've been pondering art arrangement very deeply (not to an incredibly creative result). I wish I had a set of photos that warranted this easy, yet different set-up.

I wish I remembered which apartment tour this came from (I saved this picture to my computer a long, long time ago), but it's from one of the many, many excellent sneak peeks on Design Sponge.
