Title: Katherine, Anne, Elizabeth: the Women who Shaped a Kingdom

This is basically the story of how Katherine and Anne were very similar in their treatment by Henry, and how their daughters (especially Elizabeth) made everything right again.

I'm really not a Seymour lover, but I added her to show the similarities in Katherine and Anne's position.

Please comment nd let me know your opinions:)

Title: Anne Boleyn and Princess Elizabeth

Despite Henry's abrupt manner in this clip on the birth of his daughter, Henry was quite good at concealing his disappointment from his enemies.

Anne is said to have doted on her child and ordered many lavish clothes and objects for her. It is therefore sadly ironic that after Anne was executed, Elizabeth's governess sent Cromwell a letter asking for more clothes for the little girl as she had outgrown many of her outfits and the supply had been cut short.

Wall-to-wall art

por | | 0 comments

Wall-to-wall artI've been pondering art arrangement very deeply (not to an incredibly creative result). I wish I had a set of photos that warranted this easy, yet different set-up.

I wish I remembered which apartment tour this came from (I saved this picture to my computer a long, long time ago), but it's from one of the many, many excellent sneak peeks on Design Sponge.

Title: SHOTOKAN - The Art of War

http://store.legendtv.co.uk/
Dynamite - Shotokan as it was - hard and fast, and very often brutal. See for yourself in this trailer from Legend Productions. www.legendtv.co.uk Four volume set, professionally produced and containing hundreds of carefully selected clips, digitally enhanced where necessary. You will never see this kind of action again, savage at times; but always inspiring. The final volume draws a sharp distinction between the original JKA - FAJKO - kumite rules, and the current 'sport' rules. Later version also available - 2 DVD 4 volume set - re-edited 2005. The clips you see here are a random series, we didn't simply pick the most exciting bits, no - the entire four volumes are wall to wall pulse racing Shotokan power.

Gift Guide, Part 5

por | | 0 comments

Some pretty little things...
Gift Guide, Part 5
Give your eternally stylish sister or friend a chic little coin purse, on sale for $87.50. Or maybe a set of 100 letterpress calling cards from Mandate Press for $95 (they have seven styles, or you can design your own).

For fun - maybe as a stocking stuffer - I adore this box of beauty marks from Bell'occhio for $12. There are hearts, clubs, diamonds, spades and circles, and each one has a special meaning. Very sassy.

Anyone who has ever wrapped a gift would love to receive 5 yards of Angela Liguori's gorgeous cotton Italian ribbon, for $9. Or, if you want to splurge, rolls of 200+ yards of ribbon are on sale right now for $90.

Gift cards are probably the least personal gift you can give, but sometimes they make the most sense (with companies going out of business, though, I might suggest getting a Visa or MasterCard gift card that can be used anywhere). If you do go with a gift card, package it in a cute little wallet you can make yourself.

Title: Don McLean- American Pie (with Lyrics)

Click more info for description*
Please comment, rate, and subscribe. Thank you! Lyrics are also below-

A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while.

But february made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver.
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn't take one more step.

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride,
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died.

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Did you write the book of love,
And do you have faith in God above,
If the Bible tells you so?
Do you believe in rock 'n roll,
Can music save your mortal soul,
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well, I know that you're in love with him
`cause I saw you dancin' in the gym.
You both kicked off your shoes.
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues.

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck,
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died.

I started singin',
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone,
But that's not how it used to be.
When the jester sang for the king and queen,
In a coat he borrowed from james dean
And a voice that came from you and me,

Oh, and while the king was looking down,
The jester stole his thorny crown.
The courtroom was adjourned;
No verdict was returned.
And while lennon read a book of marx,
The quartet practiced in the park,
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died.

We were singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Helter skelter in a summer swelter.
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter,
Eight miles high and falling fast.
It landed foul on the grass.
The players tried for a forward pass,
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast.

Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While the sergeants played a marching tune.
We all got up to dance,
Oh, but we never got the chance!
`cause the players tried to take the field;
The marching band refused to yield.
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?

We started singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Oh, and there we were all in one place,
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again.
So come on: jack be nimble, jack be quick!
Jack flash sat on a candlestick
Cause fire is the devil's only friend.

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage.
No angel born in hell
Could break that satan's spell.
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite,
I saw satan laughing with delight
The day the music died

He was singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
And singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news,
But she just smiled and turned away.
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before,
But the man there said the music wouldn't play.

And in the streets: the children screamed,
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed.
But not a word was spoken;
The church bells all were broken.
And the three men I admire most:
The father, son, and the holy ghost,
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died.

And they were singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

They were singing,
"bye-bye, miss american pie."
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die."

Board #337: Sun Kissed

por | | 0 comments

As soon as I saw Chelsea's post on Kate Towers, I immediately went to the website to take a look, and I knew I had to make an inspiration board based on the delightful image of the yellow dress. Wouldn't it make for the loveliest wedding dress? Especially for a unique bride, in a sunny garden wedding, full of perfectly simple details, lemonade and David Austin roses. This is one of those inspiration boards I'd like to live in for awhile...

Mood: simple, sunny garden
Palette: pollen yellow, garden green, aged paper
