I'm swoooooooooooooning for this shot from One Love Photo. Since I'm planning on jumping on the trendy mason jar bandwagon myself (although I'll purposely note I did that at a party three years ago), I'd love to get a shot like this.
What did I do on my Labor Day vacation? I:
Ate out. A LOT.
Watched a "Sonny With a Chance" marathon on the Disney Channel
Watched "The Lady Eve"
Thought LONG and HARD about many of our wedding particulars. I may post some sneak peeks of what I've been up to.

] ♥♫ ] ♥♫ ] ♥♫ --- The lyrics of this song was based on a poem that Lori Lieberman wrote. I first heard this song being played in a music store in Ginza in Tokyo in early February 1973. The more popular Roberta Flack's cover of this song was released at least year after this 1972 Lori Lieberman original. -----
Here's the link to the Blender webpage that discussed the origin of this song, and how Roberta Flack heard it first.

From Wikipedia: Lori Lieberman is an American singer. She was born in California and grew up in Switzerland, and signed a deal with Capitol Records in the early 1970s. Her self-titled debut album featured the tune "Killing Me Softly with His Song", said to have been written after seeing Don McLean in concert. The tune was reworked by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, and would go on to be a chart-topping single for Roberta Flack a few years later. Lieberman released several albums on Capitol in the 1970s and also provided music for the Schoolhouse Rocks TV show in the late '70s and early '80s. In the 1980s Lieberman receded from the industry and had three children; in the mid-1990s she began recording again for independent labels."

Lori Lieberman has a very lovely voice. She is an artist, who has contributed several beautiful music to the world.
This is THE version that I first heard in Tokyo in February 1973. Just listening to the intro and the first minute of the song just blew me away!
I also like the Roberta Flack cover but this Lori Lieberman song is THE one that got me first.

Title: Eminem - When I'm gone - Instrumental / Karaoke
Lyrics -----
(Eminem Talking)
Yeah.... it's my life.... in my own words i guess....
(Verse 1)
Have you ever loved someone so much
You'd give an arm for
Not the expression
No, literally give an arm for
When they know they're your heart
And you know you were their armor
And you will destroy anyone who would try to harm her
But what happens when karma
Turns right around to bite you
And everything you stand for turns on you despite you
What happens when you become the main source of her pain
"Daddy look what i made"
Dad's got to go catch a plane
"Daddy where's mommy?"
"I can't find mommy, where is she?"
"I don't know, go play, Hailey baby, your Daddy's busy"
"Daddy's writin' a song, the song ain't gon' write itself"
"I'll give you one underdog, and you got to swing by yourself"
Then turn right around in that song, and tell her you love her
And put hands on her mother who's a splittin' image of her
That's Slim Shady
Yeah baby Slim Shady's crazy
Shady made me
But tonight, Shady's rock-a-bye-baby, huh...
(Chorus)
And when I'm gone, just carry on
Don't mourn, rejoice
Everytime you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that, I'm lookin' down on you smilin'
And i didn't feel a thang
So baby don't feel no pain
Just smile back
And when I'm gone, just carry on
Don't mourn, rejoice
Everytime you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that, I'm lookin' down on you smilin'
And i didn't feel a thang
So baby don't feel no pain
Just smile back...
(Verse 2)
I keep havin' this dream
I'm pushin' Hailey on the swings
She keeps screamin' she don't want me to sing
"You're makin' Mommy cry"
"Why? Why is Mommy cryin'?"
"Baby Daddy ain't leavin' no more"
"Daddy you're lyin'"
"You always say that, you always say this is the last time"
"But you ain't leavin' no more, Daddy you're mine"
She's pilin' boxes in front of the door
Tryin' to block it
"Daddy please, Daddy don't leave, Daddy, no stop it"
Goes in her pocket, pulls out a tiny necklace locket
Its got her picture
"This'll keep you safe, Daddy take it with ya"
I look up, it's just me standin' in the mirror
These fuckin' walls must be talkin'
Cause man I can hear 'em
They're sayin' you got one more chance to do right
And it's tonight
Now go out there and show 'em that you love 'em 'fore it's too late
And just as I go to walk out of my bedroom door
It turns to a stage
They're gone, and the spotlight is on
And I'm singin'
(Chorus)
(Verse 3)
Sixty thousand people
All jumpin' out their seat
The curtain closes
They throwin' roses at my feet
I take a bow
And thank you all for comin' out
They're screamin' so loud
I take one last look at the crowd
I glanced down
I don't believe what I'm seein'
"Daddy it's me, help Mommy, her wrists are bleedin'"
"But baby we're in Sweden"
"How did you get to Sweden?"
"I followed you Daddy, you told me that you weren't leavin'"
"You lied to me Dad, and now you made Mommy sad"
"And i bought you this coin, it says NUMBER ONE DAD"
"That's all i wanted, i just want to give you this coin"
"I get the point, fine, me and Mommy are goin'"
"But baby wait..."
"It's too late Dad, you made your choice"
"Now go out there and show 'em that you love 'em more than us"
"That's what they want, they want you Marshall they keep"
"Screamin' your name, it's no wonder you can't go to sleep"
"Just take another pill, yeah i bet you you will"
"You rap about it"
"Yeah, Word, K-K-Keep It Real"
I hear applause, all this time I couldn't see
How could it be, that the curtain is closin' on me?
I turn around, find a gun on the ground
Cock it, put it to my brain
Scream "Die Shady" and pop it
The sky darkens, my life flashes
The plane that i was supposed to be on crashes
And burns to ashes
That's when i wake up
Alarm clocks ringin'
There's birds singin'
It's spring and, Hailey's outside swingin'
I walk right up to Kim and kiss her
Tell her I miss her
Hailey just smiles and winks at her little sister
Almost as if to... say....
(Chorus)

I've had the last remnants of a box of white wine in my fridge for...too long. I knew the wine wouldn't be good enough to drink, but I thought I could try my hand at cooking with wine.
I found this recipe for Lemon Chicken Scalloppini through Foodgawker (an excellent way to sort through the cooking blogosphere!). I had lemon, I had chicken, I had wine. Sounded like I was in business.
I did not, however, have capers, so I can't accurately attest to the deliciousness of this dish. But my version, sans capers, was moist and wonderfully flavored, both subtle and zesty.
I sliced a chicken breast in half to get thinner slices, then pounded it with a mallet and flour'd it up, seasoned with salt and pepper.
Then I fried the chicken in butter and olive oil (seriously my butter consumption is through the roof!) until both sides were browned.
Then I added 1/4 cup of white wine and a cup of chicken broth and let that simmer until the sauce reduce by half. Finally, I added lemon pieces and let those simmer, as well.
Garnished with parsley and then sat down to eat.
Cooking with alcohol, I've found, is very fun from a chemistry perspective. It's like all the best experiments you ever did, where you would add one ingredient to another and suddenly there was hissing and crackling and steam and a surge of bubbles and an incredibly satisfying hiss. I love that!
P.S. This was great weeknight cooking; fast and easy and delicious.

Some ladies in the Hampton Roads area recently decided to meet up every other Wednesday and learn about wine and graciously invited yours truly!
The goal is to find at least one bottle for each variety that we love, and eventually to learn how to pair with food. Last night, we each brought a bottle of white.
Our hostess, Lauren, served up yummy snacks in her elegant silver trays tres chic.
Since I was bringing a dessert wine Bug Juice Moscato d'Asti I brought chocolate chip cupcakes garnished with golden raspberries I found at The Fresh Market.
Horton Vidal Blanc: Another Virginia wine, it was dryer than we expected and for some reason, reminded us of bananas. But not in a bad way!
Rinaldi Vini Moscato d'Asti Bug Juice: My pick, a very sweet, very sparkly and delicious moscato. I'm a sucker for asti in any case, but this was like drinkable cake.
If you're in the Hampton Roads area and would be interested in joining in, shoot me an email at newlydomesticated(at)gmail.com.
