I was so (pleasantly) surprised by all of your wonderful comments on my earlier post. Just to be clear, at no point have I considered ending Snippet & Ink, although after re-reading my post, I understand why you might have thought that - I'm actually totally mortified that my post made it sound that way, when what I really have been thinking is about how to make Snippet & Ink work for me in a way where I won't burn out, and in a way that continues to be inspiring for you.
No matter what I meant, and how you read it, I LOVED hearing from all of you. It means so much to me, and you are all the reason that I keep blogging. Please don't feel pressured to leave comments, but know that they are always welcome and add some sparkle to my day. I will be sure to take into account your thoughts and input as I move forward with Snippet & Ink.

Lauren Conrad returns with another round of dish. Her new book details, up next.
Hello and welcome back to Clevver TV, Im Dana Ward.
So we can all remember the hyped-up bestseller, LA Candy, from Lauren Conrad aka a ghostwriter reportedly. Now the celeb is talking about her follow-up book called Sweet Little Lies. The fictional sequel still follows Jane, another reality star, but Conrad says that the new story gets a bit deeper into Hollywood and behind-the-scenes of a show. Even though the author says she made the character Jane more naïve than she was before going on The Hills, throughout the ups and downs, theyve both understood to live and learn. Lauren hopes that readers take away from Sweet Little Lies that theres always another side to the story, and to not always believe the tabloids and rumors.
Did any of you read the original LC book, LA Candy? And does that make you want to also read Sweet Little Lies? Let us know and remember to check out our fan page at Facebook.com/ClevverTV and become fans of Joslyn and me too! Im Dana Ward thanks for watching!

We are so excited to share these we can hardly stand it. Rachelle came to us with a request for couture, chic, stylish logos for her new company. She wanted them to be feminine and she also mentioned incorporating damask or a chandelier... can we say dream client?!!! We loved all of these ideas and totally ran with them. L-O-V-E!!! Rachelle is currently waiting for all her copyrights and trademarks to go through so she asked that we not post the name of her new company yet (the real company name is pretty awesome and believe it or not these logos look even better with the real name!) so please note this is a fictitious name to protect our client's privacy. Once everything goes through we will definitely share a link to her website as we know it will be fabulously chic!
Rachelle's Feedback: "OMG!!! I just opened the email with these beautiful works of art! You have captured the very essence of my vision, now I know how your many satisfied brides feel for their magical day. Thank you for your dilgence in turning these around for me. Now the hard part is selecting the best one that represents the our brand."

I have tried on many, many lovely but simple bridesmaids dresses lately, in hopes of turning them into a bridal look. I kept thinking if I could just find the right corsages or accents, it could maybe work.
How lovely, then, to find that Ban.do has debuted a new set of corsages since I last perused their site! The Lucile, shown above, costs $225. She and her friends are available here.

So I never really had time to tell you all what happened over the weekend. When I work night shifts it is hard for me to think at all after all of the sleep deprovation etc..
One of my cats went to the pet hospital on Friday night. I feel that the best way to update all of you would be to send you the e-mail that I sent Kyle explaining it to him
Dear Kyle,
I don't really know the best way to start this, so I am just going to go ahead and do it. This morning when I woke up I started to notice that Alex was "favoring" his genitals. He was always licking them, like every 5 seconds. I figured it was just a guy think and dismissed it. As the morning progressed he started to moan alot when he was walking around and seemed to only be comfortable when he was on his back. again I didn't think much of it and went to work. When I got home at midnight I changed into my PJs and started to make myself dinner (the shift was BUSY and I didn't get a chance to eat) when Alex again started crying. only this was about 10 times worse than earlier. when i looked at his crotch his penis looked all red and inflamed, and when i compared it to zach it looked really swollen (no wonder he was in pain right?) so I thought I would wake up early and take him to the vet before my shift. but whoops, it's the weekend, a HOLIDAY weekend. so now what do I do. Alex kept looking up at me with his big amber eyes and crying. So I looked at our vets magnet again and found the number for after hours emergencies and called them. I guess our vet is affiliated with this pet emergency center in la mesa which is about 10 minuites up the 8 from us, open 24/7. So I decided to take him tonight. I was worried and I didn't want him to be in pain.
So I walk into this office at 130am and Alex is immediately wisked away while I fill out paperwork. On the bottom of the first sheet is the disclaimer (all fees due at point of care, we do not offer billing services) oh great....they tell me to sit and wait, they usher me into a empty room, tell me the doctor will be in. and i sit and wait. and worry, what's wrong. what if it's something big? maybe they are just busy with someone else, maybe they forgot about me...this goes on for about 10 years (actual time probably 5 min) when the Vet FINALLY walks in "Alex's urethra is blocked, we need to un-block him tonight" I guess our 11month old baby has a kidney stone, renal calculi or other stone blocking his urinary tract and causing a build-up of urine. "It hasnt been long enough for there to be dangerous fluid and electrolyte imbalances, but that's where it's heading if we don't fix it now." he tells me. I sit in shock. a what? he continues into a battery of tests, labs, x-rays, cathater placements, overnight stays, monitoring, anti-biotics that Alex is going to need. he has to stay at the pet hospital for two days for observation, to make sure he can pee on his own, they will take samples to try and figure out why this happend. "this is a very young cat for this to happen" he tells me. All that flashes in my head is (then it will probably happen again....) he says if it happens again they will probably have to correct it surgically.
Oh and he has to be on prescription food for the rest of his life... all this time I am sitting there, with no cat, at 2am, totally speechless....we'll go get you a estimate they say they leave me in the little room. FOREVER. I am alone with my thoughts. how much? i'll pay whatever it takes. what if its thousands? His life is worth anything, what I am going to do???? I start to think of outragous figures so I don't get the wind knocked out of me when they come back with how much I have to pay for all of these tests and fees and overnight stays.
They tell me the estimate.....i need a paper bag to breath into please......they go over what the costs are, my print out is two pages long, tests, labs, pain medication, nursing care, kennel fees, antibiotics, now it's 3am and all I want is to see alex. So I pay them, what choice did I have? they take me back to the examination room. Everything is set for them to cath him (which they sedate hime HEAVILY for) I meet the techs. They show me Alex in his cage, they gave him morphine, he is as happy as a kid at christmas. licks my fingers when he sees me, rubs hard against the cage bars, and i fight tears. I give them my number, they tell me the Doc will call in the morning to let me know how he's doing. I tell them i'm working overnights this weekend. I want to be called at ANY time. I will call tomorrow to check on him, I dread going home and seeing Zachary. I tell the secretary he has a brother at home, that they've never been seperated. I fight tears again. I take the now EMPTY cat carrier from the secretary. people reassure me "I will be with him all night", "we will call if ANYTHING happens." "go home and get rest" So I get into my car, I am a zombie. I somehow make it home. I open the door. Zachary is sitting there, he looks at me, "where is my brother?" his face asks? and I cry......I sob.....he sits in my lap and head butts me while my tears fall in his fur I know that Alex is safe, I just want him home soon.....I worry I have been worrying ever since they put me in that little room, and I haven't stopped. this is a nightmare that my body refuses to wake up from, Zach is wandering through each room.....I know he is looking for Alex..... Buddy, he's not there....but he's comming home soon
-Sara
Everything that was oulined in the letter happened. I picked Alex up from the Pet Hospital on Monday morning. He is doing well. I have to give him antibiotics for 5 days. The renal diet I have him on he actually likes (thank GOD) and things are slowly getting back to normal.

Unexpected riders get a little something extra for riding the train at the Antwerpen's Central Station in Belgium this past week. It's a publicity stunt for a reality show, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone, they just like it for what it is: a really cool, well shot video, that lets average people express their joy and talent and make those around them happy for a brief period. The producers chose the exact right song: one that harkens back to our childhoods.

Sometimes we just have to pat ourselves on the back... and this is one of those times. Bride Holly came to us with her own monogram (above) and requested that we paint it onto an aisle runner for her. We have to admit that we were a little apprehensive about it as the design was so intricate, but we love a challenge so we agreed to help and we are so proud with how it turned out! And how beautiful is that color combo?! I adore everything about this runner... I don't even want to ship it out because I want to hang it up in the studio it's so gorgeous! I absolutely cannot WAIT for Holly & James to receive their runner. Holly & James please have your photographer take lots of pictures of the runner so we can have you as one of our "Featured Couples!" Best wishes!

Title: Berlinale 2010: "I Shot My Love" Trailer (Berlin Film Festival Feature)
As part of our culture-gems spotlight, we're featuring one of the most thought provoking and highly discussed foreign independent movies at the recent Berlin Film Festival 2010, the Berlinale. A unique different look at a modern German-Israeli love affair.
Seventy years after his grandfather escapes from Nazi Germany to Palestine, Israeli documentary director Tomer Heymann returns to the country of his ancestors to present his film Paper Dolls at the Berlin International Film Festival, and there meets a man who will change his life.
This 48-hour love affair, originating in Berghain Panorama Bar, develops into a significant relationship between Tomer and Andreas Merk, a German dancer. When Andreas decides to move to Tel-Aviv, he not only has to cope with a new partner, but to manage the complex realities of life in Israel and his personal connection to it as a German citizen.
Tomer's mother, descendent of German immigrants was born and lived all her life in a small Israeli village, where she raised five sons. One by one, she watches her children leave the country she and her family helped to build, and now cannot help but try to influence the life of Tomer, the one son who remains.
I SHOT MY LOVE tells a personal but universal love story and follows the triangular relationship between Tomer, his German boyfriend, and his intensely Israeli mother.

* Commissioning Editor: Sabine Rollberg

Today marks my 200th post and what better way to celebrate than with some wine? We had another meeting of wine club on Wednesday at the drop dead gorgeous home of Wanda and Christina Austin, co-workers of one of our core members. Their home is amazing and this dramatic bar made for a perfect backdrop.
It was Chardonnay night, so chosen because for some reason, most of us really dislike Chardonnays. We thought it was high time to find one we could imagine downing more than once, so we set out to tackle this important issue.
We had:
Domaine Alfred Stainless Chardonnay: This was the hands-down favorite. It was effervescent, which I love, and was very fruity and light for a Chardonnay. It didn't have that tart bitterness I associate with Chardonnay, so it was a welcome change.
Alice White Chardonnay: This is an inexpensive, Australian Chardonnay that Wanda called her "house wine." It was light and refreshing, perfect to have with a meal.
Brampton Unoaked Chardonnay: A South African wine that was lighter and citrusy. It had notes of pineapple that I could actually pick up, as opposed to normal when I just nod and smile.
Grand Vin de Bourgogne Chablis: Erica (our wine mistress of ceremonies) taught us that a Chablis from Burgundy is like getting a champagne from Champagne, France the real deal. This was my pick and was the only one I could find at Total Wine. It was different; it tasted like no other Chardonnay I've ever tried. Erica said its flavors were more pure sharp, distinct green apple, with a buttery finish. Interesting, but had a tart start.
Patrick Javillier Bourgogne: A white burgundy with a sharp bite. Erica taught us that white burgundies should age for three years before consumption, while sweet wines should be served almost immediately.
The spectacular bar area at the Austin home.
Three generations: Victoria, her daughter and her mother, visiting from Rochester, N.Y.
Erica pours a selection for Miranda.
Christina and Miranda pose with the crowd favorite.
The wine club gang, minus some of our faves who couldn't make the trip across the water due to horrific storms.
And to finish, an amazing homemade chocolate cake garnished with fresh fruit. Delicious!

I love nothing more than getting a letter in the mail. I wanted to do something special to ask four lovely ladies to be my bridesmaids and while a phone call (with the squealing and jumping up and down) would usually be best, I thought it would be nice to add a little formality to their days.
I bought this lovely robin's egg cardstock and a gold calligraphy pen. I wish my handwriting were better; I struggle mightily with cursive. But the best part was getting to use a wax seal, complete with the letter "K" for my future last name. I purposely didn't put my return address on the envelopes because I wanted my girls to get the letters and be like, "What the what?!"
They all seemed surprised and maybe a little confused about how to proceed, but that's okay. Sarah was like, "I figured I should send you a card that said 'Yes.'" LOL. But now they have little keepsakes for their scrapbooks.

You may remember Laurel from her sweet bridal shower a few months back, or maybe you know her from her jewelry line, Laurel Denise. It's so fun to have her back on Snippet & Ink, this time sharing her wedding! I also thought I'd let Laurel share a little about how she and Jedd saved money in some places: Cut corners in some obvious places. I did my own makeup, after watching hours of You Tube tutorials and visiting the closest MAC store for some expert advice. My maid of honor is really great at makeup and I had a friend come and join us who's also great at it - they helped the bridesmaids while I did my own makeup. This is something some brides pay hundreds for and I was happy to save on this. I also swapped services with a friend of mine who is an amazing event coordinator (I designed all of the print materials for her wedding and she made my day happen without a hitch, at least not one that I knew about!). I also found a caterer who let me supply my own alcohol - I can't tell you how much this saved! There are many caterers out there who will do this, you jut have to ask!
And now, on to the photos!
Laurel and Jedd held their October wedding at the Oak Ridge Estate in Arrington, Virginia, and they couldn't stop raving about it - the beautiful scenery and the service were all they could have hoped for. Laurel suggests extending the cocktail hour to give guests more time to wander around the venue if it is especially beautiful - her guests couldn't stop raving about it!
Jedd surprised Laural with a pair of diamond earrings before the ceremony. Not only was the gift itself a beautiful surprise, but he wrapped it in keeping with the style of the day - with kraft paper and twine.
Laurel found two dresses that she liked, so she worked closely with the bridal shop to create a one-of-a-kind hybrid of the two, starting with a dress by Casa Blanca.
Lemonade, iced tea, and bottled water were available for guests to cool down before the ceremony.
Laurel cross-stitched all of the signs herself, including the table numbers. Here are her thoughts on the projects she took on for the wedding: Everyone always says don't try to do everything, just take it easy and don't stress yourself out before your wedding. I do agree with that, but I also think that if you can plan wisely and not procrastinate on the small touches, then you should really try to do everything you can! For instance, I cross-stitched the table numbers and the reserved signs that were used in my reception and ceremony. People thought I was insane and maybe they were right, but if I hadn't done things like that (designing the invitations, hand-tying them all together, hand-stamping the seating cards, etc...), I would have been disappointed. Those creative things define me and I knew that they were important to me, so I started creating the table numbers 9 months before the actual wedding day! That way, I wasn't losing any sleep the week before and I could really get everything done without too many last minute break downs. I assigned myself something each day to do for the wedding and it really paid off.
Laurel designed all of the paper goods for the wedding, as well as cross-stitched all of the table numbers.
A caramel apple was placed at each guest's seat. The cake, by Hot Cakes, was chocolate with raspberry cream filling and piled high with fresh berries. (Laurel says she wishes that she and Jedd had practice cake cutting before the actually wedding!)
The reception was catered by Harvest Moon Catering, who really brought Laurel and Jedd's vision to life - fun food that was just a little dressed up, but not fussy.
DJ Derek Tobler kept guests dancing all night and was incredibly in tune to the mood of the party.
Thank you so much Laurel and Jedd for sharing your lovely day with us! And thank you to Meg Runion of Rob Garland Photographers for sharing these images (Laurel said that she's known since high school that she wanted to use Rob Garland Photographers for her wedding, and even changed the date of the wedding so that she could!). Oh, and also, right now Laurel is offering Snippet & Ink readers 30% off her jewelry line. Just enter coupon code laurel30 at checkout.
