Originally I didn't think this would even happen considering we did get married in January and it was about 26 degrees outside, but everyone that wanted to pelt us with seeds got to as we ran to the limo, later that night I found birdseed....everywhere....haha
Thanks to my MOH and her Man for stuffing little tool balls of birdseed even the night before,
A lot of the WBC Brides have asked for instructions to make these magnets, which I used for my Save the Dates. It was really very simple.
Supplies: 1) 8 1/2 x 11 magnet sheets - Purchased from Oriental Trading Company 2) Card Stock - Mine measured 5 x 7 to fit into the envelopes I purchased. I bought the card stock at Michael's 3) Photo Corners - Michael's 4) Ribbon - Silver and White - Michael's 5) Glossy finish printer photo paper - Wal-mart 6) Hole punch
I designed The magnet in Microsoft Publisher measuring 3 x 4 and printed them on the photo paper. I cut out the "picture" using my fiskars paper cutter and set them aside. Then I cut the magnet sheets (they are peel and stick) using a heavy duty paper cutter at staples to also measure 3 x 4. The I peeled the paper off the magnet to expose the sticky side, slapped the picture on there and voila! A save the date magnet! I affixed the magnet to to the card stock using the photo corners and used the hole punch to make holes for the ribbon.

Title: True Levitation - No tricks - No illusions - Here's How
This is a mesmerizing demonstration of the diamegnetic effect discovered by Michael Faraday in 1845. It's small, but then again, so is the price. Invite your friends over, bet them you can make something levitate... And prove it.
To make one, you'll need 4 small RARE EARTH MAGNETS and a chip of PYROLITIC GRAPHITE. Graphite is a DIAMEGNETIC material which means, it repels magnetic forces. You repel magnetic forces too (or more accurately, the water in you does). If you had magnets powerful enough, you'd be able to levitate just like the graphite chip in the video.
The parts to make this are readily available on the internet and should cost between 5 and 10 dollars US.

Setting the magnets up in a square like those in the video is tricky, but becomes a lot easier if you attach them to a small piece of ferrous metal (I used an old watch part). The magnets will naturally want to flip to the proper, opposite corner orientation - 2 facing north up - 2 facing south up. Once you have them arranged, carefully lower the graphite chip onto the center.
The graphite won't fall, but Instead, will float above the magnets... And will remain there forever if you let it... No batteries required:-)

It uses (1) 65w solar panel, (1) 16a charge controller, (1) 1,200w inverter, and (8) 6v, 220 a/h golf cart batteries. Will run for approx 2 days without being charged.

I have known Brian pretty much FOREVER. He was the guy that introduced me and my husband back in 7th grade (yes people, 7th grade) and he was Kyle's best man at our wedding *picture below*
He had just told me that his photographic hobby has become a real passion for him! Since the beginning of this year he had talked to me about photography and he said that he wanted to start taking more pictures and experimenting with different techniques. Last month he got a really nice camera (Cannon Rebel XSI...nice!) Now I would love to someday get a SLR camera and learn a little more around taking good quality pictures. (for some reason that goes hand in hand in my head with "I want to be able to take beautiful pictures of my babies, when i have them!). But for now I am good with my Cannon point and shoot that kyle got me for Christmas (it's pink thank you very much)
Anyway I am excited to see what he comes up with this summer. I will post some of his work as soon as he sends me some to look at. He did some engagement sessions for one of his friends last month and he is taking some photography classes this summer.

I am going to start taking new orders once again for invitations and reception pieces. Please note that I have available ship dates for invitations starting in August and anytime after. Have you heard of The Wedding Lens? If you haven't, it's a really ingenious site where your wedding guests can upload all their digital photos to one album... that way you'll have them all in one place! It's a great way to conveniently collect and store all the fabulous photos your friends and family have taken of your special day. Now you can forego those silly disposable cameras that never produce any decent pictures anyway (my apologies to anyone who used them... but I've never been a fan). I explored The Wedding Lens website and found it to be very user friendly and surprisingly simple to use... go check it out and see for yourself, it's pretty sweet.
I have pretty much been unsatisfied with my job for the last couple of months. The only thing that is keeping me there are the people I work with. I have never seen a unit of nurses and CNA's that are so committed to each other, and I know that I will never work in such an environment again. Never the less I am itching for a change, for a job with better hours
for a job in the ER
for those of you that have been following the blog for sometime know that I have jumped back and forth from Maternal/Child Nursing and Emergency nursing for awhile. Everything from Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, NICU, and ER nursing have been put in the mix. I have attempted to get into L&D in San Diego, but it is very difficult to get into that field when you have no previous L&D experience. So I went back to the ER, which is what I wanted to do in college anyway. I figure I will work in the ER for a year or two then go back to L&D because I definitely see myself working in L&D or Mother Baby for the majority of my career. (after all I'm only a year in and I have about 35-40 years before retirement haha)
I ::shhh:: have already applied for a ER training program starting in October. My parents are coming to visit the 3rd week in August and after they leave I am diving into "operation Sara gets an ER job" head first. September will be spend applying and interviewing and October will be orientation, just in time for Kyle to come home in November.
I WILL get a job in an ER somewhere in San Diego, I just don't know where yet :-D
