Chaundra's Story

It really is pretty remarkable the connection we make with our clients without ever even meeting them in person. It's no wonder that my heart broke when I got the following message back in September from Houston Bride Chaundra reading:

"...you recently did a aisle runner for my fiance and I, Quentin. We were supposed to get married this weekend, but unfortunately Hurricane Ike came through instead..."

Can you imagine? The invitations have all been sent out, your guests have arranged their flights and booked their hotels, all your vendors have been confirmed, and all that's left to do is marry the person of your dreams... and then disaster strikes. Hurricane Ike not only damaged the hotel that Chaundra & Quentin were to be married in, but also left a fallen tree on their home. Thankfully, they weren't hurt. As soon as I finished reading Chaundra's e-mail, I knew we just had to get a new runner out to them for their new wedding date, which is coming up this weekend. It was the least we could do to help. When we told the news to Chaunra, we got the following response:

"Ohhhhh.... Kristen thank you! Tears are rolling down my face, because I've been through soooo much this week, from the hurricane, a tree falling on the house, wedding postponed, and then calling vendors and people letting them know that things have changed. You are such a BLESSING, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart..."

It truly was a pleasure being able to replace this runner for Chaundra & Quentin. We feel honored to have worked with such a genuine, sweet, and appreciative bride and we wish Chaundra & Quentin the very best as they get married on Saturday!

Pictured above is the new runner we created, minus the date... we didn't want to jinx anything this time!

Popcorn Bar Stickers

I created wedding invitations for Tanisha and Vincent back in January and their wedding is just now less than a week away. They asked me to create a few of the remaining pieces for their wedding including these adorable round stickers for their guests to use at the Gourmet Popcorn Bar, a seating chart and a bar menu. They are all done in the same color scheme: tiffany blue, black and white and these stickers are just an adorable way for the guests to seal their bags after they fill them up!

The Taco Burger

Every once in a while, Sean and I will pick up those pre-formed patties at the grocery store. They're perfect for the days when I have no idea what to cook, or in the instance we will be eating separately. But I wanted to spice mine up this time, literally, so I coated it in taco seasoning.

Then topped it with the "Mexican" shredded cheese. The thing is, the seasoning really ought to be mixed in with the meat entirely, not just on the outside. It added some zest, but not the taco punch I was craving. It was, however, a nice change from the normal burger with American cheese.

I paired my burger with a peach Nehi soda in a glass bottle, which basically made my day. When I was growing up, Nehi was the brand for fruit-flavored sodas. We didn't have Fanta or Slice, really, but we always had Nehi. I learned on its Wikipedia page that Nehi was based out of Georgia, which would explain why it was so readily available where I grew up but not anywhere north of there. 

When I was a senior in high school, perhaps because we knew it would be hard to find in college, my friends and I became addicted to Nehi. We had the freedom that only seniors have, so we would often leave school between classes to go buy snacks at the Bee Line gas station. Some people always got strawberry, but me and Jordan Owens always got peach. When I saw it at Farm Fresh the other day, I jumped up and down. Delicious.

Which runner's different?

Remember when you were little and played games where you had to figure out which object was different from all the others? Well let's play! At first glance all these runners look like they have the same monogram, but look again! Out of the four runners shown above, 3 are all monogram 3D and one is monogram 36C... who can figure out which one is different?! If you get it right give yourself a cookie! :)

Brilliant band though and another from the Midlands area of the UK which came to everybody's notice towards the end of the seventies along with the Specials, Selector The Beat and so on.
