The Deal of a LIFETIME

por | | 0 comments

My friend Brian has been getting into photography over the last year and has been thinking about updating his camera body. I asked him if he was thinking of trading in his old stuff that I would like to buy it off of him. Originally I was thinking about getting only the camera and the kit lens, but he kept adding things.

This is what is coming in the box that he hopefully shipped today

1) One Canon Digital Rebel xsi camera with kit lens Amazon Retail Price $750
2) One Canon EF 50mm f1.4 lens Amazon Retail Price $520
3) One Canon EF-S 55-250 f/4.0-5.6 IS zoom lens Amazon Retail Price $299.99
4) One copy of photoshop 7 Amazon Retail Price $699.99
5) One gig bag (retails at $100.00)
6) Two extra Memory cards and an extra lithium ion battery
7) A tripod

Total price to buy it retail - around $2300. I'm buying everything for $1200 including shipping. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

Anyone else out there into photography? I want some suggestions as to where to start. I want to take an online class at BetterPhoto.com and get some books. But I guess what's really going to help me is pratice pratice pratice!

Look out for ALOT more pictures on this blog!

Title: Scar and Hades 2: Deal of a Lifetime (READ DESCRIPTION)

After being set free by Hades for capturing Hercules, Scar decides to get revenge on Maleficent for killing him. After battling her minions, he finally confronts her. He lunges at her, but she disappears and reappears behind him. She then curses him with a spell and tells him that he will die before the sun sets. Then, she electrocutes him which knocks him out. When he wakes up, he's being taken to the tanner. After asking who he is, the tanner reveals himself to Scar. He then realizes that his hide was being sold by Maleficent for one piece of silver. He runs for his life but gets frozen by Maleficent. Before he can be recaptured, Hades demands that Scar be released or he will revive Aurora which takes away Maleficent's opportunity for revenge. Maleficent realizes that she has been defeated and leaves. Hades transports Scar to the Underworld and tries to tell him to recapture Hercules. Hercules has been rescued by Zeus which leaves Hades stuck again. Before he can tell his plan to Scar, Scar knocks Hades into the pit of souls. He can do this because of the powers that were given to him by Hades. He's not as powerful as a god, but he has the power to help fight one. Once Hades is knocked into the pool, he snaps his fingers one more time which sends Scar to his next destination. lol

Balloon necklace and blog housekeeping

por | | 0 comments

Balloon necklace and blog housekeepingI have a weakness for balloons. When I was a child, my mother used to rent "The Red Balloon" and I loved it. One of my most vivid memories is visiting Disneyworld for the first time and desperately hoping my mom would buy me one of the Mickey Mouse-head balloons (she didn't psychically realize this, and bought a foil balloon instead!). I would love to recapture my youth with this necklace from Yellow Goat on etsy.

In other blog housekeeping news, I will be starting a new job on Monday. How will this affect the blog? Well, it means the cooking updates may get kind of weird, but tackle a new domestication challenge: cooking for two when the people in question work opposite hours. I will be working 9 to 5 and Sean works 3 to 11:30ish. Never fear, friends, I will still be updating faithfully and hopefully some of you will join me for dinner so I can keep learning!

Title: Learning To Let Go [FINALE...PART 2]

I KNOW ITS SUPER SHORT BUT I HAD TO SPLIT IT IN TWO!
-----------------------
Joe was at Kevin and Sam's helping them set up for Lexi's 5th birthday party. He took a seat on the couch and started blowing up balloons. Little Lexi came storming into the living room with a pink princess dress that nick and joe had given her for her party. She jumped next to Joe on the couch.

Lexi: whatcha doin!
Joe: blowing up balloons for your party.
Lexi: but I don't like balloons.
Joe: [let go of a balloon and let it fly off] are you kidding me. Munchkin you told me you wanted balloons. Specifically yellow ones remember.
Lexi: but I don't want them anymore.
Joe: if you weren't so cute then I would be mad. [tickled her until she begged for mercy]
Lexi: [smiled at Joe] its cuz you love me too much.
Joe: you're right. Hey I have something special for you for your birthday.
Lexi: oooh! Surprise! I love surprises.
Joe: [pulled out a necklace. It was Alexi's old heart diamond necklace that Joe kept] here.
Lexi: its pretty!
Joe: it was your aunt Lexi's.
Lexi: [eyes widened] really!
Joe: yep.
Lexi: [sat on Joes lap] can you tell me about her again.
Joe: I've already told you the story.
Lexi: but say it again. I like hearing it. [she cuddled next to her uncle who wrapped his arm around her. She felt so safe]
Joe: ok. Well where do you want me to start.
Lexi: tell me about how you met her. I like that part.
Joe: [laughed] ok. I was at my friend mikes party with nick and your dad. She walked in with your mom and tiff and my eyes instantly shot towards her. She was beautiful. Ya know you look a lot like her.
Lexi: I do?
Joe: yep.
Lexi: ok keep going.

Joe went on and told little Lexi the story of her aunt. She loved hearing how much her uncle love her. It was the best story ever.
---------------------
FINALE!
Ok so the story ended going back to the beginning! Wow...I cant believe I'm done! I wish I cold have gone more into detail and stuff but I really needed to end it. Like seriously. don't kill me!!! Thank you guys so much for keeping up with this series. You guys are amazing!!! now its time to work on WHO KNEW PART 2!!! Im sad about finishing this series...I'll miss the characters lol

High Fashion Wedding Shoot

High Fashion Wedding ShootHow chic is this wedding shot by Jill Thomas? Balloons are getting a bit played out, but the vivid colors, the shadows and even the stance of the bride's feet make this picture completely unique. Very editorial, no?

Title: The Etiquette of Exchanging Business Cards

In some parts of the world, a business card is considered an extension of a person. Etiquette coach Syndi Seid goes over the do's and don'ts of presenting and receiving a card.

Title: Your Business Card Strategy

Your Business Card Strategy

Do you have a Business Card Strategy? Most business professionals answer is no. Your business card is so important, often a prospects first impressions of you, and the marketing item used the most, yet business professionals put so little thought into its creation.

So how do you say enough in this small amount of space to make your business card important for a prospect or contact to remember you? Twitter has taught us that you can say quite a bit in 140 characters, so making your business card relevant to your prospects and contacts can be done.

Lets examine a Business Card Strategy created by Chris The Coach Ruisi for his clients. We will need The Coach to answer the following questions to create our own Business Card Strategy.

JF: Thanks Coach for appearing on the show. Why is it important to create a strategy when putting together your business card?

The Coach: Your business card is your first impression, it is common sense that professionals should spend some time to evaluate what is the correct message and contact information that should appear on their business card. Professionals without a business card strategy risk having the wrong message being sent to prospects.

JF: What contact information needs to be included on your business card?

The Coach: The basic contact information of Name, Title, Address, Telephone, E-mail, and Fax, and if space is available a Social Networking Contact.

JF: How important is the quality of paper and ink used?

The Coach: Your Business Card should be of good quality, it is not necessary to have the absolute best. Poor quality cards are a very bad reflection and probably go in the trash. Professionals should make it a habit to invest in themselves.

JF: How can I make my business card a marketing tool and not something prospects throw in the trash?

The Coach: It is your message that defines what need you fill and why someone should keep your contact information. Take the time to put together a correct and meaningful message.

JF: What if anything should I include on the back of my business card?

The Coach: The back of your business card should have some space to write notes. Writing notes not only helps you remember, but sends a message to your prospect that you care enough to take notes. The back of your business card can also be used to help define what role you fill.

JF: Thanks so much Coach, any closing comments to assist our readers in creating their own Business Card Strategy?

The Coach: Your business card is often your first impression; take the time to create a professional and meaningful message. Dont go cheap on the quality and message of your business card.
